About Me

Hi, I'm Richard West. I'm a psychologist, coach, spiritual facilitator, author, father and musician - or at least these are situations I find myself in when being truly myself.
Since 2005 it's been my main driving force to discover ever deeper layers of truth about myself and life in general. On a journey of continual healing and alignment of body, emotions, mind and spirit, I've realized that life can only be truly lived if I'm willing to look into all layers of myself and show up with honesty and authenticity.
When I separated with the mother of my children in 2017 I knew that the only way to emerge from it healthier was to dive in again and face my pain. In doing so I was able to heal the wounds which caused my codependency. I developed a system for dealing with triggers and refined my communication to make it as clear, honest and empowering as possible. As a result I'm able to navigate through the highs and lows of deep, messy and wonderful relationships without losing myself in them. My relationships have become alive!
One of my gifts has always been listening to others and helping them become clearer in themselves. I offer a safe and supportive presence for exploration.
I've been coaching and facilitating since 2014, supporting people through identity crises, dying and grief, childhood trauma and varying relationship issues. It's a profound pleasure to work with people and witness their unfolding into who they truly are.

Richard has a strong and comforting energy to work with. You'll feel safely held as you explore into life's most challenging issues (he's affectionately known to some as 'the bear'!). He also has a greatly loving and empathic supportive energy, able to cut to the chase and locate the energetic source of the problem. With a complimentary career background, plus a great richness of life experience (especially around family relationships), he brings a crafted wisdom to client engagements. So, people feel held and safe, while at the same time able to go deep and unveil their consciousness.

I recently had my first session with Richard. I know therapy and I can honestly say that I have never before been helped by someone who is so totally 'there' for me without invading my space or giving me the feeling of being categorized. He also grasped my situation in a wink, worked with totally non-judgmental compassion, guided without pushing and, best of all, facilitated profound, long sought realizations and change. I can feel these on several deep levels and not just with my mind. Richard meets you where you are and brings you safely a good deal nearer to home.

Richard is a very intuitive facilitator. He was able to quickly identify one of my root issues, self judgment, and work with it so that it doesn't limit or interfere with my potential. It feels like Richard is gentle, empathic and observant enough to bring exactly the right energy to the session.

Richard's presence makes me feel truly safe. It allows me to dive deeply into my issues, knowing I'm being held with great compassion. It feels like there's absolutely nothing that could shock him or make him judgmental, so there's no reason to shy away not matter how ugly the issue might feel. I find it rare and deeply healing.

I really loved the awesome simplicity of Richard's approach. It gave me the confidence to be who I am and break out of certain unhealthy identities. He resonated a feeling that I don't need to be more than who I already am. He also called me up on my stuff when I least expected but most needed to hear it. I had a great time chatting and laughing with him and am really looking forward to more sessions.

I undertook a facilitation process with Richard to look at an issue that has troubled me for many years. Richard has the ability to look under the surface of your problems and intuitively put his finger on the much deeper issue. He opened up new pathways and empowered me to solve my issue by taking ownership of it.
